Food mess occurs after animals are fed. At the feeding trough, animals will sometimes toss food out when eating. This lowers the clean state of the animal shed or pasture. In order to clean, the player needs a front loader.

To clean, simply pick the mess in the front loader bucket and empty it back in the feeding trough. The shed or pasture will be clean again, and animal produce will start to get higher.
